Why should you improve?
You should improve your life and yourself, simply because you deserve it! You deserve to live a longer, healthy life. Decide for yourself that you want to have an elevated, evolved, empowered life! Start today with improving.
If you want to make an overall improvement of yourself, you first need to educate yourself as to why it is important and why it is a good idea to make that improvement. And second, you need to build a healthy habit off of that and then you can even start to expand later down the road.
NO, improving on your physical health, sleep, diet, mental-health, self-care and self-love isn’t expensive.
Stop making excuses for yourself and start doing better for yourself, not for anyone else! Don’t do it to impress others, do it to impress yourself and to get the most out of your life.
We are not trying to reach perfection, we are going to achieve satisfaction and happiness.
Achieve the growth-mindset
Starting your self-growth journey is hard and confronting. You will make up any excuse as to why you are not doing something. Trust me, I’ve been there, I’ve done that. At one point it is necessary to open your eyes and see that it is your responsibility to have a good, happy life.
You are in charge. It’s your fault when you’re not happy in your life and it is your fault if you succeed greatly.
When I’m talking about success in your life, I’m not necessarily talking about becoming a millionaire. I see being successful in your life as being happy, being happy with yourself and being proud of yourself, having a good health (within your own reach), being mentally stable and calm, being fit, having great relationshios being happy to be at the place you are in life. Success is creating the life you want for yourself.
To master the growth mindset it is necessary to take some steps:
- Understand the concept of a growth mindset: believe that your abilities, happiness and intelligence can be developed through effort, learning, and persistence.
- Challenge your fixed mindset beliefs: Fixed mindset beliefs assume that abilities and intelligence are static and cannot be changed, change them.
- Embrace challenges and take risks: A growth mindset encourages you to see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.
- Create a love for learning: Become curious about life, make it your obsession. Learn before you’re going to improve on something, but don’t use this as an excuse (I did).
- Celebrate effort and progress: Acknowledging and rewarding your effort and progress helps reinforce a growth mindset. Acknowledge all the growth you make and all the little things you do for yourself.
- Surround yourself with like-minded people: You will become like the people you hang around with most. So, engage with people that you want to be like and that lift your energy.
- Practice self-compassion: Being kind to yourself, especially in the face of failure or setbacks, helps maintain a growth mindset. Be nice to yourself
- View Challenges as Opportunities: Embrace challenges as chances to grow and learn, rather than as obstacles.
- Seek Feedback and Learn from It: Be open to constructive criticism and use it to improve.
- Develop resilience: Resilience involves bouncing back from challenges and continuing to push forward despite difficulties. Keep on pushing.
- Be persistent and patient: Recognizing that developing a growth mindset and achieving your goals takes time and consistent effort.
- Turn your effort into your reward: stop giving yourself rewards when you complete something, take rewards out of your effort. Spike your dopamine through effort
- Focus on the process, not the outcome: Valuing the journey and effort involved in achieving goals rather than just the end result. This will give you greater fulfillment.
- Acknowledge the need of change: If you want to change your life, you have to change yourself.
1. Start choosing yourself
Choosing for yourself is crucial because it allows you to live a life that truly aligns with your values and desires, leading to greater fulfillment and personal growth.
When you start making decisions based on our own preferences rather than external pressures, we empower ourselves to pursue what genuinely excites and motivates us.
By actively choosing paths that resonate with our true selves, we enhance our confidence and reduce regret, ensuring that the life we build is one we are proud of and fully invested in.
So stop living for anyone else than yourself. Recognize that your biggest company is you, so start loving yourself and live life for yourself.
2. Healthy habits
In order to feel better and healthier, you need to take action. I started with implementing these habits in my day to improve my health:
- Drink 2 L (half a gallon) of water per day, hydration is power.
- Take 10.000 steps every day
- Eat 3 pieces of fruit for your gut health: kiwis, berries, figs, bananas, apples are really beneficial for your digestion.
- Start having 3 vast meal moments and stop snacking in between to improve your gut health and digestion system. So make sure your meals are nutritious: full of proteins and greens.
- Track your progress: Use a fitness app or journal to keep track of your activities and celebrate your progress.
Growth Mindset Tip: Embrace the idea that improvement comes with consistent effort. Treat every step as a step towards a healthier you, and view setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow.
2. Sleep: Create a Restful Routine
Establish a consistent bedtime routine to improve your sleep quality. Learn about sleep here.
How to Implement:
- Set a schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends, to regulate your internal clock and to follow your circadian rhythm. Follow the 90-minute sleep cycle, for example, I want to wake up at 7 AM everyday so I go to bed at 11 PM (23:00) then I’ve got 7,5 hours of sleep and 15 minutes to fall asleep and 15 minutes to wake up.
- Create a relaxing ritual: Develop a pre-sleep routine that helps you unwind, such as reading a book, meditating, or taking a warm bath. Put your phone away.
- Optimize your sleep environment: Make your bedroom conducive to sleep by keeping it cool, dark, and quiet. Invest in a comfortable mattress and pillows.
- Mouth-taping: Start taping your mouth to get improved airflow (more oxygen), reduced snoring, better oral health, refined jawline and to feel more energized when you wake up. BE PRECAUTIOUS: don’t tape your whole mouth, use surgical tape (Amazon) vertically or use special mouth tape (Amazon).
- Stop sleeping in: It always sounds sooo good to sleep in and get more rest. Well, we’re wrong. Essentially, your body is not getting more rest. You are just confusing your body. All your rhythms get messed up and you will not feel more energized when you wake up. You will just have a more hazy day (which feels relaxed), but actually your body is not properly awake.
Growth Mindset Tip: Understand that improving sleep is a gradual process. Be patient with yourself as you adjust your routine and stay open to experimenting with different strategies until you find what works best.
3. Diet: Nourish Your Body Wisely
Improving your diet is key to boosting your overall health and energy levels, and it starts with making simple, conscious choices. By incorporating more nutritious foods and planning your meals, you can achieve better well-being. Here’s how you can better your diet:
- Balance is key 90/10 or 80/20: eat 80 or 90 percent healthy and for 20 or 10 percent just eat what you like. Also don’t feel guilty when you eat something that is “bad” for you, just enjoy the moment.
- Add nutrient-rich foods: Include more fruits, vegetables, proteins, eggs, dairy, and whole grains in your meals to fulfill your hunger.
- Avoid these: over-processed foods, fabricated foods, sugary snacks, and gluten
- Plan your meals: Prepare balanced meals to avoid last-minute unhealthy choices. Set three vast meal moments for yourself.
- Experiment with Recipes: Try new, healthy recipes that incorporate a variety of nutrients. Look for creative ways to make healthy eating enjoyable.
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your body well-hydrated.
These steps will help you make gradual, sustainable improvements to your diet, leading to long-term health benefits.
Growth Mindset Tip: Appreciate every healthy choice you make fo yourself. Approach dietary changes with curiosity and openness. Be willing to learn and adapt as you discover what foods and meal patterns work best for you.
4. Mental Health: Foster a Positive Mindset
To cultivate a positive mindset and improve your mental health, you should focus on adopting habits that foster resilience and well-being. By implementing strategies to manage stress and shift your thinking, you can enhance your overall mental wellness. Here’s how you can get a positive mindset:
- Be mindful: I try to be mindful every morning about my happiness and my life. his makes a big difference in my overall feelings. Dedicate a few minutes each day to mindfulness or meditation exercises.
- Start being happy: decide that you are happy, and learn to get happiness from inside yourself, not from external factors.
- Be grateful: Regularly write down things you’re thankful for to shift your focus to the positive and take daily moments to think about them.
- Engage in positive self-talk: Replace negative thoughts with affirmations and focus on your strengths and achievements. I try to talk about the things I’m improving on or doing good.
- Enjoy the now: I love living in the moment, stop worrying and shift your presence to right now.
- Set realistic goals, dream big: Break down your goals into manageable steps to maintain motivation and track progress. Learn how to plan effectively.
- Create self-compassion: being gentle and understanding with yourself, especially during challenging times. Try being your own supportive friend.
- Seek support: Don’t hesitate to talk to a mental health professional if you’re struggling. Therapy and counseling can provide valuable support and coping strategies.
Growth Mindset Tip: Recognize that mental health is a journey with ups and downs. Use challenges as learning experiences and be compassionate with yourself as you work towards greater emotional resilience.
5. Self-Care: Prioritize Your Well-being
Implementing self-care into your life can significantly boost self-love by allowing you to prioritize your well-being and recharge. Here’s how you can do it:
- Establish a skin-care routine: Creating a skincare routine involves consistently using products suited to your skin type to maintain its health and glow, this will mkae you feel better about yourself and grow your self-love. Commit to a daily regimen of cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection tailored to your skin type.
- Choose quality products: Invest in products that address your specific skin concerns and are free from harsh chemicals.
- Make time for yourself: Use your skincare routine as a moment of relaxation and self-care.

- Schedule regular self-care: Block out specific times each week for self-care activities and treat them as important appointments.
- Practice mindfulness: Incorporate mindfulness into your self-care routine to enhance relaxation and stress relief. This doesn’t need to be a meditation; I prefer breath work.
Growth Mindset Tip: View self-care as a necessity rather than a luxury. Understand that taking care of yourself allows you to be more effective in other areas of your life.
6. Self-Love: Cultivate a Positive Relationship with Yourself
