Having control over everything in life
The key to totally having control is, spoiler-alert: not trying to have any control. This might come as a shocker, but you are not in control of life.
Why? Because life happens.
Have you ever found yourself spiraling into a worry storm about things you can’t even control? Maybe you’re obsessing over every little detail of a project, or stressing about how things will turn out in the future. Trust me, I’ve been there too.
But here’s a surprising twist: Sometimes, not trying to control everything can actually give you more control over your life. Sounds paradoxical, right? Letting go can be an absolute power move in life.
If you are always trying to have control, you will constantly feel out of control. You will notice you are never really in control and that’s when you try to be more in control. This will only work counteractive on you.
Let’s talk about why clinging to control can be a problem. When you’re fixated on managing every single detail, you’re often creating more stress for yourself. It’s like trying to juggle a million balls in the air—eventually, something’s going to drop.
Plus, when you’re obsessively controlling, you might miss out on spontaneity and opportunities that come from letting things unfold naturally.
Here’s the deal: the more we try to control every aspect of our lives, the more we end up feeling like we’re losing grip. It’s a classic case of the tighter you hold on, the more likely things are to slip through your fingers.
When you’re constantly micromanaging, you’re essentially setting yourself up for stress and disappointment. Why? Because life is inherently unpredictable, and trying to control every detail is like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands.
Worrying about what might happen
Here’s a reality check: Most of the stuff we worry about never actually happens. Studies show that only about 10% of the things we fret over become a reality. So, all that energy you’re spending on planning for every possible disaster could be better spent on living in the moment and enjoying life.
When you notice you are worrying about a lot of things, tell yourself: “I’m not in control over this and it probably won’t even happen and if it does I will find a way through it.” “It is the way it is and that is totally fine.”

The upside of letting go
So, why is letting go of control so beneficial? For starters, it reduces stress. When you’re not constantly trying to steer every aspect of your life, you free up mental space and emotional energy. This allows you to be more present, appreciate the little things, and adapt to changes without feeling overwhelmed.
Also, it’s liberating. When you stop obsessing over every tiny detail, you create space for creativity and spontaneity. You become more adaptable, which means you’re better equipped to handle whatever life throws at you.
And guess what? You might actually find more joy and fulfillment when you let things flow naturally.
Letting go also opens you up to new experiences. When you stop trying to control every outcome, you allow yourself to be surprised and inspired. Life becomes more about embracing the journey rather than obsessing over the destination.

Embracing the fear
Okay, I get it—letting go can be downright terrifying. The fear of the unknown can make it feel like you’re jumping off a cliff without a parachute.
But here’s the thing: That leap often leads to growth, freedom, and a deeper sense of satisfaction. The unknown is where creativity and true potential lie.
Letting go of your fears and going past them, works so freeing. Feel the freedom past your fears.
I always say that the best things happen in the unknown, over and over again I prove myself right.

How to let go of having control
So, how do you start letting go? Here are some tips to get you started:
- Acknowledge your limits: Recognize that you can’t control everything. Accepting this is the first step toward freeing yourself from the need to micromanage.
- Focus on what you CAN control: Instead of trying to manage every detail, concentrate on the aspects of your life where you have genuine influence. This shift in focus helps you feel more empowered without the burden of excessive control. Channel your energy into what you can influence. Instead of trying to control the uncontrollable, put your effort into areas where you can make a meaningful impact.
- Practice mindfulness: Engage in activities that ground you in the present moment, like meditation or deep breathing. This helps you to detach from worries about the future and embrace the here and now. Stay present and mindful. Engage in activities that help you focus on the here and now, like meditation or simply enjoying a cup of coffee without distractions.
- Embrace flexibility: Allow yourself to adapt to changes and unexpected events. Flexibility can turn potential stressors into opportunities for growth and learning.
- Let go of perfectionism: Remember that perfection is an illusion. Embrace imperfections as part of the journey, and be kind to yourself when things don’t go as planned.
The best way to go at it is accepting you’re not in control and just enjoying the here and the now. Be present.

Personal examples
Let me share a couple of personal experiences where letting go made all the difference.
The Job Interview Jitters: I once spent weeks obsessing over every possible question I might be asked in a job interview. The stress was overwhelming. But on the day of the interview, I decided to let go of my precisely prepared answers and just be myself. To my surprise, the interview went great, and I got the job! By letting go of my need for control, I ended up being more authentic and confident.
Planning a Trip: I planned a vacation down to the minute details, only to find that our plans were thrown off by unforeseen weather changes. Instead of stressing, I decided to embrace the spontaneity of the situation. We ended up discovering some hidden gems we would have missed otherwise. The trip turned out to be one of the most memorable adventures we’ve ever had.
So, next time you find yourself trying to control every little detail of your life, remember this: sometimes the best way to take control is to let go. Embrace uncertainty, focus on what you can influence, and allow yourself to enjoy the ride. You might just find that relinquishing some control gives you more freedom and fulfillment than you ever imagined.
Remember, the best way to take charge is to let go. It might feel scary at first, but the freedom and clarity you gain are totally worth it.
Let go and feel the freedom past your fears. Build your happiness.
Give it a try, and let me know how it goes! You’ve got this.
